'WHere wild emus roam' - book launch
21st February, 2021
On Sunday, we had the immense pleasure of launching 'Where Wild Emus Roam' written by Sara Whincup and illustrated by Elvis Moody.
The launch took place at the Bilya Koort Boodja Centre for Nyoongar Culture and Environmental Knowledge in Northam and was officially launched by the President of the Shire of Northam, Cr Chris Antonia.
With didgeridoo playing, children jumping like kangaroos, animals to pet, beautiful Indigenous art on display, story reading, and stew and damper on offer, the event was thoroughly enjoyable and well-received by the 40-strong crowd.
Huge thanks to the Bilya Koort Boodja Centre for allowing us to hold the launch there, Alissa Moody for her beautiful welcome address spoken in the Nyoongar language, Cr Chris Antonio for launching the book, Sara, Elvis and their families for setting up the venue and organising the activities, and Mark Wolstenholme for being our official photographer.
All photos have been taken and posted with permission from the attendees.
